Three councils in the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) area are to receive a share of £45 million from the Government to support building homes on council owned land..
The aim of the Land Release Fund is to help kickstart the building of thousands of new homes in 79 projects across the country. It will be spent on overcoming barriers which would otherwise make land unusable for housing development.
Local funding success
Five projects across Kent and Essex will receive a share of £2.33m. The successful local beneficiaries include:

Christian Brodie, Chairman of SELEP, said: “With bids to the fund being oversubscribed, more than £100 million was received in funding requests for 143 projects, we are delighted that five of our partners’ bid have been successful.”
Building on recent success
The Land Release fund success follows the recent announcement that 13 projects across the SELEP area are to share more than £82m of the Government’s Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF).
The HIF funding will help deliver 13,443 new homes across Kent, Essex, East Sussex, Thurrock and Southend.
