Improvements to the A22/A27 north of Polegate, along with the Sustainable Transport Corridor, required to support housing and employment growth in the Eastbourne and South Wealden area.
Project update
The project was considered by Accountability Board on 15th February 2019 and the decision was made to remove the project from the LGF programme. Through the scheme design and costing process it became clear that the £1m LGF allocation available to the project was not sufficient to enable the delivery of any of the proposed junction improvements on the A22/A27 corridor without significant additional funding being allocated to the project, as a result the decision was taken to remove the project from the LGF programme. Despite the reallocation of the LGF funding provisionally allocated to the project, a number of improvements to the A22/A27 corridor have already been delivered through works funded by alternative means. The £1m of LGF funding which was provisionally allocated to the project will be reallocated to LGF3b pipeline projects.
