Businesses across Essex, Kent and East Sussex are being invited to a briefing focusing on delivering a modern plan for a successful South East, adopting new technologies and ways of working, plus an update on work to deliver a new Lower Thames Crossing.
Organised by the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP), the event, ‘Robots, Routes, Revenue’ will be held on 21 November at CEME, the campus nurturing manufacturing, engineering and technology businesses, based in Rainham, Essex.
Highways England will provide an update on the proposed £4.4bn crossing which will increase road capacity between Essex and Kent by 70 per cent when it opens in 2027.
Christian Brodie, Chairman of SELEP, said:
“The crossing is an integral part of our emerging Strategic Economic Plan, and an investment we have long called for. The briefing will focus on what’s being done to grow the area’s economy, and to secure investment in new infrastructure, skills and business support. We want to bring business with us on what we believe will be an exciting economic journey and help give them the confidence to invest and grow in this part of the South East.”

More than just a plan, much more than just a tunnel!
The UK’s biggest diameter road tunnel is set to be built by 2027. The Lower Thames Crossing has the potential to create 6,000 jobs and generate an additional £8bn for the economy.
Capitalising on the scheme is a priority in the new South East LEP Strategic Economic Plan, a modern plan that will speak for businesses and demand further investment from Government.
The South East LEP, Highways England and the Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) have partnered to share their plans with you to help your business prepare for this exciting opportunity.
