The South East LEP are hosting 3 events to share the opportunities for funding available through EAFRD and LEADER. In each event you will hear about both EAFRD funding and the LEADER grant programme and an overview of the priority calls currently open.
There will be the opportunity to hear about the requirements and application process for EAFRD and LEADER funding, as well as information on frequently asked questions and where to find support.
At the end of the meeting there will be the opportunity to network and book a 1-2-1 with RPA and LEADER staff.

EAFRD
SELEP has been given one of the largest EAFRD allocations in the Growth Programme – £14.5m for the period 2014-2020.
The focus of EAFRD in the SELEP ESIF (European Structural and Investment Fund) strategy is:
- Provide support for rural businesses
- Optimise the growth and development of the Agrifood sector
- Support the development of sustainable rural tourism
- Support development and provision of enhanced levels of connectivity (not including Broadband)
- Support development of a more efficient low carbon and sustainable rural economy

LEADER funding
LEADER funds projects that create jobs, help rural business to grow, and benefit the rural economy. It is available to local businesses, communities, farmers, foresters and land managers.
LEADER is part of the Rural Development Programme for England which is managed by the Rural Payments Agency and funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
A total of £138 million is available in England between 2015 and 2020 under the scheme.
There are 9 LEADER programmes in SELEP covering most of the area. The projects funded tend to be smaller scale than under EAFRD with a maximum grant size of up to £35,000 – £50,000. This means that LEADER and EAFRD sit alongside each other and applicants will decide which programme is most relevant for their projectidea, according to the size of the grant to be applied for.
We look forward to seeing you there.
